Miranda Chen

Miranda Chen was Mass. Advocates for Children’s 2023 Young Adult Leaders Fellow. Miranda is a proud Asian American and a young women with a learning disability. She wants to learn all that she can to advocate for herself and others. Miranda attended school at the LABBB Collaborative in Burlington and worked at many jobs during her time there. Miranda also participated in the Middlesex Community College MAICEI/MAIPSE program where she learned skills for future jobs and how to be more independent. Miranda is planning to pursue her associate degree in Business Administration focusing on office & system administration.

During her time as MAC’s Youth Fellow, Miranda learned office skills, co-presented trainings for families about transition services and created a transition brochure for youth to help them understand their rights for transition services. Miranda hopes this information will help youth feel better about participating in their Team meetings, so they will be more prepared to move on to the adult world. The tips are based on what she learned during her work, during peer interviews, and research she did as the Youth Fellow.
